Zarzuela ‘La Taberna del Puerto’
Zarzuela ‘La Taberna del Puerto’ by Pablo Sorozábal, on 13 June at 10 pm, on the terrace of Barba Roja (Andratx Town Hall).
Featuring the Andratx Municipal Choir and the Veus de Ponent Choir.
SYNOPSIS:
The action takes place in the port of the imaginary town of Cantabreda, in the north, in 1936.
Marola’s tavern is located in the port. No one knows Marola’s origins; all that is known is that the tavern was financed by the bandit Juan de Eguía, whom everyone believes to be her husband.
A group of local women reproach Marola for driving all the men mad, but she defends herself by accusing them of not paying attention to their husbands. Juan de Eguía strikes Marola whilst her lover, Abel, looks on helplessly.
The next day, Abel rallies everyone to find Juan and demand an explanation.
