Cala En Basset Tower

This defence tower is located in Punta de Sa Galera at an altitude of 80 m in the heart of the Tramuntana mountain range above the village of Sant Elm, in the town of Andratx, also known as Torre de Sa Rabassada, built in 1583, this tower controlled the passage of pirate ships through the Freu de Sa Dragonera. It was a defence tower, without emitting signals.

In the 19th century it lost its military function, but during the Spanish Civil War it was used for airspace control, and a building was built next to the tower.

Today, it is a historical monument that offers impressive views of the coast and the nearby island of Dragonera. Cylindrical tower, between 9 and 10 metres high The main floor is currently accessed through a false door and the original door has been converted into a window. An interior staircase leads to the upper floor.
