Sant Elm

Cala Conills

A very ancient stone quarry, “Cala Conills” or “Cala Molins” is a tiny and quanit cove, with small anchored boats and dry docks. The cove is surrounded by a sandstone rocky place and covered by gravel and river stones. It is mostly used by residents in the area, which makes it a calm and unfrequented spot.

Historians think that the quarry was used to supply marés, a local stone. The construction of the “Castell” through orders from King Jaume II transformed the ancient defense tower into a castle in order to protect Sant Elm’s chapel and hospital from the pirates.
